Blueberry Extract

Anthocyanins belong to the flavonoids in phenolic compounds. They have the typical structure of flavonoids, and the basic structural unit is 2-phenylbenzopyranic cation. The pigment in blueberry fruit is the natural pigment of anthocyanin, which can be mixed into a series of bright and pleasing colors such as blue, blue purple, purple, rose red, pink, etc.  It is a natural pigment with good quality and strong stability.

It is reported that this anthocyanin pigment is beneficial to human eyes, which can eliminate eye fatigue and increase vision. Moreover, it has the physiological functions of reducing cholesterol, inhibiting lipoprotein oxidation, anti-oxidation, anti-aging, anti-ulcer, anti-inflammation and anti-cancer, as well as the remarkable medicinal functions.

 

Related research institutions in the United States found that blueberry are the fruits with the highest anthocyanin content among fruits and vegetables. The content, species and antioxidant capacity of anthocyanins in blueberry vary with different cultivation methods, varieties, harvest seasons and regions. The anthocyanin content of wild blueberry varieties is as high as 330-338 mg/100g fresh fruit quality, and that of cultivated varieties is generally 70-150 mg/100g fresh fruit quality.

Among the New Zealand blueberry measured by Scalzo et al., the late maturing varieties Velluto Blue and Centra Blue had relatively high anthocyanin content, while the early maturing varieties Bluebayou, Blue Moon and Sunset Blue had relatively low anthocyanin content. The content of anthocyanin in blueberry of rabbit eye was higher than that of blueberry of south bush and north bush.

Garzon et al. determined that the anthocyanin content in the fresh fruits of Columbia blueberry was about 329mg / 100g, while the anthocyanin content in the fresh fruits of wild blueberry in the Da xing an ling of China was (156:1 ± 9.1) mg / 100g.
