Sugarcane, also known as cane, is gramineae monocotyledon plants, for sugarcane plants (scientific name: Saccharum) general name. Sugarcane is a crop suitable for temperate, subtropical and tropical crops. It is the raw material for sucrose production, and ethanol can be extracted as biomass energy, and is also used for livestock feed. Sugarcane is grown in more than 100 countries. The largest producers are Brazil, India, China, Cuba and Thailand. The most common edible sugar cane in China is bamboo cane. There are many important cash crops in the gramineae, including corn, wheat, rice, beans, oats, sorghum, and many forage crops. Native to tropical and a few temperate regions of Southeast Asia and New Guinea.
Sugarcane is one of the world's most productive crops, with an annual output of about 1.88 billion tons, and Brazil accounts for 40% of the world's production. According to the FOOD and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 2012, about 26 million hectares (64 million acres) of land in more than 90 countries and territories was used to grow sugar cane.
About 70 percent of global sucrose production comes from sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum), a sugarcane plant, and its hybrids. All sugarcane varieties can be crossed.
Sugarcane accounts for 79% of global sugar production; The rest is produced in sugar beets. Sugar cane is mainly grown in tropical and subtropical regions, and sugar beets are usually grown in cooler temperate regions.
Nutritional value of sugarcane
Nutrients
Modern medical research shows that sugarcane is rich in sugar, water, in addition, also contains a variety of vitamins, fat, protein, organic acids, calcium, iron and other substances that are very beneficial to human metabolism. Sugar cane not only adds sweetness to food, but also provides nutrients and calories that the human body needs.
Economic value of sugarcane
Sugarcane can also be made into sucrose ester, fructose syrup and so on.
Bagasse, waste honey and filter mud can be made into paper, fiberboard, broken grain board, furfural, feed, food medium, alcohol, dry ice, yeast, citric acid, lysine, glacial acetic acid, monosodium glutamate, glycerin, cement, fertilizer, etc.
Cane tip, cane leaf, bagasse bran, waste molasses or alcohol waste liquid used as fodder for ruminant animals such as cattle and sheep; Molasses and filter mud can be mixed into grain feed to make granular feed. Waste residue and liquid discharged from sugar factory can be used as fertilizer for sugarcane.
Sugarcane is the main raw material for sugar production in China. Sucrose accounts for about 65 percent of the world's total sugar production, while China accounts for more than 80 percent. Sugar is one of the necessary food for human beings, and also an important raw material for food industry such as candy and beverage. At the same time, sugarcane is an important raw material for light industry, chemical industry and energy. Therefore, the development of sugarcane production plays an important role in improving people's life, promoting the development of agriculture and related industries, and even the development of the whole national economy.

Sugar cane wax extract octacosanol powder, a natural compound derived from sugar cane wax,has shown promising results in clinical studies (primarily performed in cuba) and is well tolerated.Since it is derived from a food a source,sugar cane wax extract policosanol powder is classified as a nutraceutical ,or natural product. Commercial products are derived from a variety of different source (sugar cane wax, rice bran wax, beeswax,)but it is important to note that the sugar cane wax derivative was used in the Cuban studies.
Octacosanol powder contains about 60% octacosanol, followed by triacontanol. There is a much lower concentration of several other fatty alcohols: behenyl alcohol, lignoceryl alcohol, ceryl alcohol, 1-heptacosanol, 1-nonacosanol, 1-dotriacontanol, and geddyl alcohol.
Sugar cane wax extract octacosanol powder is used as a nutritional supplement intended to lower LDL cholesterol and increase HDL cholesterol and to help prevent atherosclerosis, though some studies have raised questions about the effectiveness of octacosanol.
Function:
(1) Sugarcane powder used to strengthen stamina, vigour and physical strength;
(2) Sugarcane powder usedto improve the reactive sensitivity;
(3) Sugarcane powder used to improve the strength;
(4) Sugarcane powder used to promote function of sex hormone, ease the pain of muscle;
(5) Sugarcane powder used to improve the function of cardiac muscle,
(6) Sugarcane powder used to reduce cholesterol, blood fat and systolic pressure;
(7) Sugarcane powder used to improve the organism metabolism.
Application:
1. Sugarcane powder is a cholesterol-lowering natural mixture of primary alcohols, isolated and purified from sugar cane wax. Policosanol is safe and well tolerated, even in populations with high use of concomitant medications.
2. Sugarcane powder has performed equal to or better than simvastatin, pravastatin, lovastatin, probucol, or acipimox with fewer side effects in patients with type II hypercholesterolemia.
3. Sugarcane powder is used for conditions that affect the health of the heart and blood vessels including high cholesterol, leg pain due to poor circulation (intermittent claudication), and narrowing of the blood vessels that serve the heart.
4. Sugarcane powder seems to decrease cholesterol production in the liver and to increase the break down of LDL (low-density lipoprotein or "bad") cholesterol. It also decreases the stickiness of particles in the blood known as platelets, which might help reduce blood clots.
